Song for God: a poem by Jackie Chou

Abstract art: generally circular shape, browns, taupe, gray, makes me think of a cup of coffee with steam rising. Image by Bianca Van Dijk, on Pixabay, slightly modified.

Song for God

When the sun is down

or hidden,

I will seek Your light.

When the birds' chorale

is silenced by sleep,

I will remember Your song.

When the medication

doesn't ease the pain,

I will trust in Your healing.

When the bread tastes stale,

I will rejuvenate in Your Word

which nourishes me.

When the coffee is bitter,

I will contemplate sweet Jesus,

who died on the cross for me.
