Shelter in the Rock

As the rock kisses the ocean,

intricate beauty comes alive.

Crabs crawl out of crevices.

Inanimate shells are put into motion.

By clinging to the rock when it’s dry,

they are well-placed when waters arrive.

At times when I, too, feel dry,

no signs of life or movement,

let me cling to the rock of Jesus

resting upon His firm foundation,

ready and waiting for life-giving waters

to saturate me once again.
